At Chelsea Yacht Club, we feel its never too late to start your Sailing journey and grow your passion for the sport we love!
All Chelsea Yacht Club's Learn to Sail courses are delivered through our Australian Sailing accredited Bob Kaegi Discover Sailing Centre using Australian Sailing qualified sailing instructors.
Our courses follow the syllabus prescribed by Australian Sailing but have been extensively enhanced to incorporate a graded performance competency learning and assessment approach and utilise an integrated delivery format with practical on water lessons supported by comprehensive on beach and online learning materials. Both significantly increases the awareness of each new sailor to how they are progressing and what areas to focus on and leads to enhanced course outcomes. Course delivery takes into consideration that new sailors will come from a variety of age, experience and backgrounds.
Start Sailing 1 & 2
The Start Sailing 1 & 2 program is an accredited Australian Sailing course conducted by qualified instructors from our Discover Sailing Centre. The courses typically run over nine Saturday mornings. Courses run over October-December, and February-April. Sessions commence at 9:00am and conclude at 12:00pm.The program is conducted using the clubs fleet of Pacer dinghies, which are a perfect boat to train in for beginners and are widely used around the country and by the sports governing body.
The Start Sailing 1&2 course costs $375 for members and $561 for non members. It provides twenty seven hours of qualified instruction, a Certificate on completion and a pathway to the capable enjoyment of sailing, whether that is sailing in club events, or just doing your own thing.
