Corsair Project

A group of Chelsea Yacht Club volunteers are undertaking the refurbishment and modernisation of an ex RAN Navy cadet Corsair to supplement the Club’s Learn to Sail fleet. With new Learn to Sail boats now in excess of $20K, the Corsair project is a cost effective approach to increasing the fleet and creating more opportunities to learn to sail and love the sea.
Chelsea Yacht Club volunteers will undertake both the restoration and modification of the Corsair to upgrade it to become a contemporary Learn to Sail trainer. Modifications include a modern sail plan, new spars, asymmetric spinnaker with extendable pole, new fittings and rigging, removal of the false floor, incorporation of floor stringers and drainage scuppers, composite rudder box and tiller, and repainting.
The project requires both in kind and financial sponsorship.
