The Better Sailing course is an accredited Australian Sailing course conducted by qualified instructors from our Discover Sailing Centre. This course is open to financial sailing members only and for those who have completed Start Sailing 1 & 2, focusing on sailing in stronger winds and introducing extra equipment like spinnaker and trapeze to leverage the full boat potential on the water.

Sessions run on saturday mornings, starting at 9:00am and conclude at 12. Participants are encouraged to arrive by 8:30am to allow time for changing into wet weather gear and boat rigging. The program is conducted using the Chelsea Yacht Club RS Quests and RS Aero fleet.

The Better Sailing course costs $395 for members. It provides over twenty-four hours of qualified instruction, a Certificate on completion and a pathway to Green Fleet, Club & Social Sailing.

• Bathers – shorts & rashie ideal (avoid cotton)
• Towel
• Beach shoes /old runners
• Hat
• Waterproof jacket
• Wetsuit / wetsuit booties
• Sailing gloves (fingerless)

This course is designed for participants who wish to continue developing their sailing skills in dinghies. 

Course Outcome

You will gain your Better Sailing completion certificate.
